Scooter: Music for a big night out -review

Scooter has had a bit of a bad streak after the wonderful Who´s got the last laugh now (2005). There was the crappiest Scooter album ever Jumping all over the world (2007) and The Big mash up (2011), which was all over the place and had no feeling as a whole album.

Music for a big night out is definitely a step to a better direction. Although I don´t care much about the first single 4 am, it has received its place of the album. There are also other same kind of Avicii and Swedish house mafia -style songs which make the album more coherent.

There are your typical Scooter covers like What time is love and Black Betty, which succeed to give these classing songs a quite different perspective. Also, you have very Technoheadish song Overdose (Frazy), which at first seems a little irritating but then turns out to be quite fun hardstylish banger.

For me, the best bits are in the end. Previously mentioned Black Betty, I wish I was, Too much silence and Last hippie standing really stand out and elevate the rating of this album. Too much silence is a perfect vocal trancer with pitched vocals and a beautiful, beautiful melody. Last hippie standing is something you wouldn´t expect from Scooter, a hard psytrancesong.

All in all, Scooter has stepped up to the plate and managed to bring their best to this one. There are couple of songs that should have probably been replaced but you manage to look by these little weaknesses.

Scooter, I welcome you back! Now you sound like yourself :-)

I give   4/5 stars.
