Ke$ha: Warrior -review

Ke$ha conquered our hearts in 2010 with the massive song, Tik tok. Her drunken singing tone irritated at first, but then started to tickle my ears. Yeah she was a little bit Lady Gaga wanna-be, but with  this new album Warrior she is starting to  spread her wings.

The singer was inspired by 70´s rock so Warrior has quite a gritty feel to it. It´s very aggressive in your face with Ke$ha talking dirty and singing about "Young hunks, taking shots, stripping down to dirty socks" (what a nice image ;-)  ). She has even employed the old timer Iggy Pop to Dirty love.

The opener, Warrior, is very clubby tune with a fast tribal house rhythm. As a first song it really wakes you up to the fact, that this is no beautiful r´n´b album. There are also other hard club songs like Out alive (in deluxe edition) and Supernatural. My favorite is probably All that matters (The Beautiful life), which reminds me of 90´s eurodance. So its not a suprise to see Max Martin in the credits as Sweden was quite big in the eurodance scene.

There´s also a couple of beautiful ballads, but done in the style of dirty Ke$ha. Big tunes also in the deluxe edition, like the previously mentioned Out alive and Gold trans am.

Warrior is a non-polished trip with an artist who has really stepped up to the plate. The previous EP and the debut album were good, but this really strikes to the core of who Ke$ha is. Album wont probably please everyone, but thats the beauty of it.

I give 4/5 stars.
