Dido: Girl who got away - review

British singer Dido has a voice that you either hate or love. I really havent decided which side im on. But when it comes to music, this album is a step up to a better sound.

Dido has always sung slow songs and ballads but with Girl who got away she tries on more daring electronic sounds. There are still a couple of those boring slow songs like No freedom but the new electronic songs outweigh the slower ones. Also Dido has invested in bigger refrains like in Let us move on. Best of the bunch is the synthpop "End of night". There should have been more songs like that one.

In the deluxe edition you get a bonus cd with six bonus tracks including Armin Van Buurens remix of Everything to lose. On its own this trance remix seems out of place. One could have hoped for at least another remix on this bonus cd. The other bonus songs are songs you could do without. Maybe Dido should have released a bonus cd with remixes only?

Dido has decided to evolve her music, because she has performed the same slow shit for years now. Electronic music really makes her voice easier to digest... :-)

I give 3/5 stars.
