S.e.x. Appeal: Russian roulette - review

Lyane Leighs aka S.e.x Appeals new album saw the light of day  about a week ago. There has been six years since Sensuality, if you dont count the two remixalbums in 2008 and 2010. So its nice to hear something new and not remixed from this project =)

Sensuality was almost purely hardtrance album in the style of Cascada and Lyane previously mentioned that this new one was going to be an electrohouse album, so I was a little disappointed because yours truly is not a big fan of that sound. But having listened Russian roulette, I was positively surprised: to my opinion Lyane does not dwell on trendy sounds like many of her peers, but manages to deliver an album that is quite free of any particular genre. Its dance in its purest form and has a sound that probably endures and doesnt sound out of date in couple of years.

My favorite is probably French kiss, which has a nice bassline and very catchy refrain. Also Lusty dreams and Poison called love are very much to my liking. Also the lyrics have a big 90´s feel to them because of their naivety (which is a good thing). There is a one weak link and thats Scream my name ; singing seems very forced and the music is amateurish.

Although far from perfect, Russian roulette is a solid dancealbum and has a few nice melodic moments in store for S.e.x. Appeal fans. Thank you Lyane =)
I give 3/5 stars.
