M.I.K.E: World citizen - review

In this age of digital decay, this cd was very hard to get hold of. I had to order this through www.ruslania.com , a place which sells Russian merchandise, like books, cd´s etc. World citizen was released on cd ONLY in Russia, which is an utter disgrace.

World citizen is a step towards more electro but the main focus is primarily on trance sound we love from M.I.K.E. Euphoric melodies continue song after another and remind me of the good days of trance. These are full-on, full-lenght instrumentals with explosive melodic energy. Melodywise they are hardly something new, but why people are always obsessed that everything always has to be something modern and exciting?

Only downside is the cd 2. Although the first three originals on cd are very good performances (like the extra good Elements of nature), some of the remixes really lack inspiration. For example Inpettos remix of Universal nation is a perfect example how to imitate Swedish house mafia badly. Also Maor Levis remix of Mes que un club is the same kind of electrohouse vomit. On the good side, Allure (aka Tiesto) delivers a fantastic remake and Roger Shahs version of Silver path takes the essence of the song and gives it a new fascinating rhythmic spin.

I´m really sad that Armada didnt give this a release in Europe. This is a really good album for M.I.K.E fans and it  offers something that the previous album Moving on in life (2007) didnt quite  deliver.   Worth every penny!

I give 4/5 stars.
