Dan Balan: Freedom part 1 -review

Former O-zone hunk Dan Balan has released his soloalbum (if you dont count album released under the name Crazy Loop in 2007). Freedom part 1 consists mainly of previously released singles. Album is a mixture of ballads and dance.

Dance songs sound really exemplary like Freedom, which is a perfect dancepop with trancy influences. Justify sex and Chica bomb are a combination of electro and melodic Inna sound. What troubles me with these two songs is that you really cant hear much of Dan singing in these? Another stand out in the dance area is Take me higher, which is almost instrumental.

On the ballad side I love Люби and Лепестками Слез. These songs have a really strong melody, which is a thing that lacks nowadays in many ballads. Adele, eat your heart out ;-)   And in the end, you have your remix setting from the likes of Sergey Fisun and Chew Fu.

Although the album doesnt isnt cohesive it has a collection of very good tunes. Compared to American counter parts, Dan is far superior. And what stands out to me, is the lack of typical trend sounds but that could be explained by the fact that this is a collection of old songs.

So what may be in store for Freedom part 2? Hopefully lots of new dance songs:) This album will leave you wanting for more.
