Moonbeam -interview

1. Who is Moonbeam? Names and ages?

Two brothers Pavel Khvaleev (28 years old) and Vitaly Khvaleev (33 years old).

2. As a project who has done many albums, where do you find
inspiration? What evolves your music?

Traveling is one of our favorite activities. And besides the fact that it's beautiful and exciting, it's a perfect source of inspiration. Traditions, customs, culture, cuisine of different countries gives us a number of ideas.

3. What kind of music do you listen when not listening to club music?

Lana Del Rey, James Blake, Delilah, 30 seconds to mars. Usually we listen
not dance music, because it's more melodic and allows to draw inspiration.

4. Which artists do you look up to ?

Kairo Kingdom. We think that this guys are pioneers in new style of electronic music called Glitch Hop and they have a big potential. Their tracks can be played both in a small clubs and at outdoor festivals.

5. What do you think about electronic dancemusic being in the top of
the charts? Is it good or bad? Has it affected to your music?

50 / 50, really. From the one side, it’s good that so many people love electronic music, but from the other side, it makes EDM scene more pop-style and it’s not good. We are independent musicians, so it’s not affected us, we produce only that music, which we really love.

6. How do you feel about artists making digital only albums?

It’s necessary for beginners. But it’s not so bad when more professional artists do the same. And there are many reasons why they do it, maybe for saving money or it’s just their rule.

7. If you had the power to do a song with any vocalist, who would it be?

Bjork, Lana Del Rey, and 30 Seconds To Mars.

8. What are your opinions about trance scene today? Going better or worse?

We are not in trance today, so it’s hard to say. But, we think that those trance of ’00 already dead and what we can listen today It’s just a mix of different styles. And some people might call it trance but… you understand.

But still EDM scene has some several names, several artists which produce real trance.

9. In Russia, how people react to electronic music? Here in Finland
dancemusic has a little bit of bad reputation.

Today electronic music in Russia more popular than 5 or 10 years ago. We have real big festivals and probably all DJ’s from Top 100 list already visited our country. Of course, we have some problems with this from time to time, but anyway Russia loves EDM.

Thanks for the interview and good luck with the new album =)
